On the Peace and Sport International Forum held on Nov 1st in Russia, world ski champion Samir AZZIMANI from Morocco and world long-distance running champion Tegla Loroupe from Kenya volunteered as the peace ambassador of China World Peace Foundation. Till now there are more than ten Olympic champions and international outstanding athletes from China, USA, Spain, France, Kenya, Morocco and other countries being the peace ambassadors of China World Peace Foundation. With their particular advantages, they have made positive contributions to international public welfare.
It is introduced that China World Peace Foundation has conducted extensive cultural diplomacy in aspects of culture, art, education, sports, and health since its promotion of “peace plus one” mode. While constructing the social, cultural and economic exchange platforms between international organizations, different state governments and the folk society, China World Peace Foundation has set up global cooperation network, further enhancing the friendship between Chinese people and foreign people.
China World Peace Foundation has built the “peace garden” cultural landscape which symbolizes the pursuit of peace. State heads and Chinese representatives of international organizations from more than one hundred countries gather here to summon peace with love, and display cultural vitality through the mode of Peace and Art, Peace and Sport, Peace and Education, Peace and Health. The foundation held Arab, Nepal and China-Japan-Korea concerts, first large-scale abroad painting exhibition of North Korea, cultural exchange activities between Ambassadors to China and Chinese painters, photographers, pottery artists and sculptors. The foundation also led Ambassadors and representatives of international organizations to visit domestic media institutions and places of interest. It set up cooperation centers with many famous universities in China, USA, Canada, Switzerland, Pakistan and Japan, forming an education alliance. The foundation hosted international cultural and web forums, lectures, training activities, donated children popular science readings to about twenty countries in different continents. When Wenchuan earthquake and Qinghai Yushu earthquake struck, China World Peace Foundation coordinated international strengths to donate money and books to schools in disaster areas. “Peace Cup” International Golf Tournament which has been successively held in the past 13 years, The First Diplomats Pingpong Match, and Diplomats Peace Running have been the brand events among foreign envoys and multi-national enterprises, through which the spirit of being healthy and upward and the philosophy of promoting harmony through sport are extensively spread on international platform. The foundation once invited principals of international Red Cross from 18 countries to Peace Garden for discussion, and established cooperative relationships. The efforts and fruits made by China World Peace Foundation have won high recognition and appreciation from UN and international medical treatment and public health organizations.
During the Africa-China folk forum, China World Peace Foundation invited more than 100 young leaders from 40 countries to plant international friendship forest in Peace Garden, hoping that the seed of peace and friendship could blossom and yield fruit in the heart of people in different countries.
With the love and wisdom, China World Peace Foundation has deeply imbedded diplomacy into life. The cultural environment created by the foundation has been universally recognized by international society. Just as Chairman Li Ruohong said, “We do not have specific assignments or specifications. Regardless of gains and losses, we cherish the love and destiny that tie us together.”
